Every year, thousands of students walk, roll, scoot, and bike to school as part of International Walk and Roll to School Week. The event celebrates and inspires students to get to school using people-powered ways that week – and all year.

Walk SF is proud to lead this event as part of our role in the SF Safe Routes to School Partnership. We support all SFUSD elementary schools for the big week, but each year have an extra-special event at one school.

This year, that school was Dianne Feinstein Elementary School in the Parkside Neighborhood!

Students in Vision Zero capes, school mascot Leo the Lion, and special guests Mayor London Breed, District Supervisor Myrna Melgar, SFMTA Director Jeffrey Tumlin, SFCTA Executive Director Tilly Chang, and our own Jodie Medeiros all showed up bright and early to get to get to school the old-fashioned way.

If you want to get a big smile on your face, check out the inspiring video and photos from Dianne Feinstein Elementary:

Encouraging students to use alternative modes of transportation is not only good for our climate and communities, but also helps build healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

Special thanks to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which funds and leads the SF Safe Routes to School Partnership.
